DownTown Mystic takes on a classic rock road trip with a modern twist - 'Mystic Highway Road Trip'

DownTown Mystic is the musical brainchild of Robert Allen, a multi-faceted performer from America who as a singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, is driven not only by an admiration for the days when rock was king but also by an interest in analogue recording as a means of sound production, which in the end has led to the development of a musical style that mixes feelings of the past with modern elements. Driven by his passion for Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Buffalo Springfield, and Rockpile, he has produced compositions that mainly feature narrative content, catchy tunes, and sincere delivery.

These make the EP an excellent soundtrack whether you're on a road trip or simply resting at home. "Superstar, To Sir Elton with Love Mix " is a high-energy tribute to one of music history's legends that also celebrates DownTown Mystic's sound signature quite successfully. "Live" is an upbeat yet gentle song that talks about the joy of living with some good music and companions. What really brings the blues out from the bluesy arrangement in this track and gives it a touch of sincerity and depth is Fierro's harmonica playing.

In "Losing My Mind, Re-Mix, " the mood turns introspective. The guitar skills offered by Lance Doss and the great lyrics sung by Robert Allen are the main reasons why such a song has stayed in people's hearts. "Shadows Walk" is an instrumental composition that builds a story through music, layer upon layer. Steve Holley and Paul Page, a seasoned rhythm duo, lay down a very solid foundation for the entire band to play atop, making the melody soar while keeping the beat going all the while.

In "Fly, Buddy Holly Mix", DownTown Mystic not only pay musical homage to rock 'n' roll great Buddy Holly but do so without mimicking his style to an uncomfortable extent. "Somebody's Always Doin' Something To Somebody, Uncut Mix, " a very long version of a song, features everyone and their dogs having space to express themselves. The EP comes to an end with the great piano and Hammond B-3 of Jeff Levine providing the background music for the last time - the final performance being so satisfying and memorable that even if you never listen to this EP for the second time, you will not easily forget the great music in it. The EP is a collection of rock tunes that have never gone out of fashion.
